Paying cash for Wegovy used to mean paying close to the $1,349 list price. Now Novo Nordisk sells it at a fixed self-pay price, and the federal TrumpRx site lists that same offer13.

This page is about the mechanics: what each dose costs, where you buy it, and the rules you agree to when you pay cash. If you want every way to lower the bill, including insurance and the savings card, start with how much Wegovy costs without insurance instead.

What does Wegovy cost if you pay cash?

These are the self-pay prices as of October 2026, per month1:

Wegovy productDoseSelf-pay price
Pen, first 2 fills0.25 and 0.5 mg$199
Pen0.25 to 2.4 mg$349
Wegovy HD pen7.2 mg$399
Pill1.5 mg$149
Pill4 mg$199
Pill9 or 25 mg$299

The $199 price is for new patients and runs through December 31, 2026. A "month" of pens means one box of four weekly pens; a month of pills is one bottle of 30 tablets. The pen price is the same at every standard dose, so moving up the ladder doesn't cost you more. The pill works the other way: each step up costs more.

What is the $199 Wegovy offer, and when does it end?

It covers your first two monthly fills, which are the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg starter doses, at $199 each. It is for people new to the offer, and Novo lists it through December 31, 20261.

After those two fills, the pen goes to $349. If you start late in the year, plan your budget around the regular price, not the intro.

What does TrumpRx charge for Wegovy?

The same as Novo. TrumpRx shows the Wegovy pen at $199 for the first two fills, then $349, Wegovy HD at $399, and the pill from $14934. It also lists Ozempic on the same terms: $199 for two starter fills, then $349, or $499 for the 2 mg pen.

What TrumpRx actually gives you is a coupon. You accept the terms, then show the coupon at a pharmacy. It does not prescribe and does not ship medicine.

Is Wegovy HD covered by the self-pay price?

Yes, at $399 a month, with no intro discount1. HD is the 7.2 mg dose for adults who have already been on 2.4 mg and need more weight loss, so most people meet it after months on the standard pen.

That $50 jump over the standard pen adds $600 a year. Ask your prescriber whether 2.4 mg is still working before you step up.

What rules do you agree to when you pay cash?

The self-pay offer comes with terms. On TrumpRx, you confirm that you3:

  • Are 18 or older and live in the US or a US territory
  • Have a valid prescription for Wegovy
  • Will not ask any insurer, including Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE or the VA, to pay you back
  • Will not count what you paid toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum

That last rule matters if you are close to meeting a deductible. A cash fill won't help you get there. If your plan does cover Wegovy, the Novo savings card can bring a fill to as little as $25, up to $100 off per month, which beats every price above1. Government beneficiaries can't use that card.

Do you still need a prescription, and who writes it?

Yes. NovoCare, TrumpRx and your pharmacy fill a prescription; none of them writes one. Your own doctor can, or you can use a telehealth program.

Many online programs will write a brand Wegovy prescription and send it to NovoCare or your pharmacy. Watch for programs that add a monthly membership on top of the medicine. Our board of online semaglutide programs shows which ones prescribe the brand and what they charge for the visit.

Self-pay brand vs compounded: what's the real difference per year?

OptionPrice per monthFirst 12 months
Wegovy pen, 2 intro fills then $349$199, then $349$3,888
Wegovy pill, 1.5 mg climbing to 25 mg$149 to $299$3,338
Wegovy HD 7.2 mg$399$4,788
Compounded semaglutide, median$199$2,388

The compounded median comes from the 39 programs we track that state a regular monthly price. That gap is real money. Remember what it buys, though: Wegovy is FDA-approved and made by Novo, while compounded semaglutide is not FDA-approved and isn't reviewed for safety or quality before it is sold5.

For every form side by side, read what semaglutide costs in every form. For the tablet in detail, see the Wegovy pill's price by dose.

What happens to the price after December 31, 2026?

The $199 intro for new patients is listed through December 31, 20261. Novo hasn't said what replaces it, and it can change or end its self-pay offers at any time4.

If you are budgeting for 2027, use the regular prices, not the intro: $349 for the pen, $399 for HD and $299 for the pill at maintenance. We'll update this page when Novo publishes new numbers.

Can you pay less by committing for longer?

Possibly. In March 2026, Novo announced a subscription offered through some telehealth programs: commit for longer, pay less per month2.

CommitmentWegovy penWegovy pill
3 months$329 / month$289 / month
6 months$299 / month$269 / month
12 months$249 / month$249 / month

Novo says the terms vary by program, so ask yours whether it offers the plan and what happens if you need to stop early. A 12-month commitment only saves money if you stay on Wegovy for the full year.

How do you start paying self-pay?

  1. Get a prescription from your doctor or a telehealth program. Make sure it says Wegovy, not Ozempic or a compounded product.
  2. Choose delivery or pickup. For delivery, have it sent to NovoCare Pharmacy. For pickup, use the Novo savings offer or a TrumpRx coupon at your local pharmacy.
  3. Confirm the price for your dose before you pay. The pen price is flat; the pill price depends on your dose.
  4. Set a refill reminder. A gap in treatment can mean restarting at a lower dose, which wastes money as well as progress.

If you aren't sure Wegovy is the right brand for you, our cheapest GLP-1 comparison shows Foundayo and Zepbound at their self-pay prices too.

The bottom line

Wegovy's self-pay price is $349 a month for the pen, $399 for HD and $149 to $299 for the pill, with a $199 intro for your first two pen fills through 2026. NovoCare and TrumpRx charge the same, so choose by whether you want delivery or pickup. Check your insurance first, because a covered fill with the savings card is cheaper still.

A few more quick ones

How much is Wegovy with the NovoCare self-pay offer?

As of October 2026, new patients pay $199 a month for the first two pen fills (0.25 mg and 0.5 mg), then $349 a month at any standard dose up to 2.4 mg. Wegovy HD 7.2 mg is $399. The Wegovy pill is $149 at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg and $299 at 9 and 25 mg.

When does the $199 Wegovy offer end?

Novo Nordisk lists the $199 intro offer for two monthly fills through December 31, 2026. After the two fills, the pen is $349 a month.

Is Wegovy cheaper on TrumpRx?

No. TrumpRx lists the same Novo Nordisk self-pay prices as NovoCare: $199 for two intro fills, then $349 for the pen, $399 for Wegovy HD and from $149 for the pill. TrumpRx gives you a coupon to use at a pharmacy.

Does a Wegovy self-pay purchase count toward my deductible?

No. The self-pay terms say you can't count the cost toward your insurance deductible or out-of-pocket limit, and you can't ask your insurer to pay you back.
